Dear Bodenham alumni, former teachers
and friends,
It has been three years since our last reunion.
The Bodenham Community has seen many changes
over time. At this year’s reunion we
want to honor the community which supported our school and meant so much to us
all.
When: Saturday, September 24, 2011
What: Bodenham/Community/Family/Reunion
Picnic
Where: Bodenham School
Grounds (In case of rain, Mt. Moriah Cumberland
Presbyterian Church)
Time: 10:00 A.M. Registration 11:00A.M. Program
Program: The Bodenham
Community
Speaker: Leslie (Bubba) Parker
A picnic lunch of hamburgers with all of the trimmings will be
furnished following the program.
Donations for the lunch will be appreciated. The speaker, Bubba Parker, is a lifelong resident
of the Bodenham Community. He graduated from Bodenham
High School in 1969 and the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1973. He returned to Bodenham
High School and taught and coached until it closed in 1978. He will tell us about the Bodenham
community, its history, what it meant to the school, and what it means to those
who lived or continue to live in the community.
Since we are honoring our community, we are inviting members of
all churches within the community and all residents, past and present, of the
community to this year’s reunion. We also
want you to invite your family members to this reunion. Bring your parents, children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Our intent is
to gather former students, their families, and the entire Bodenham
community to participate in a reuniting of friendships, extending the
fellowship to all.
The J. Marlin Goodman
Scholarship continues to be so very successful. Since our last reunion, three additional
scholarships have been awarded: Sarah
Young, Candice Crane, and Sarah Locke.
Christine Horne will be a senior at Tennessee Tech University. Others who have received their degrees and
become teachers are: Lacy Stanford, Beth
Marks, Jessica White Harrison, Lauren Nave, Grayson Rose, Cody Taylor and Mary
Beth McCree.
The J. Marlin Goodman
Scholarship Fund balance is $129,500 as of June 30, 2011. Of this amount, $126,000 is invested in a CD
with CB&S Bank at a rate of 3% until the year 2015. The Board of Directors
is very pleased with the rate CB&S Bank is paying, considering the economic
times we have been under for several years.
We also want to thank CB&S Bank for their donation to buy stamps for
mailing this letter and all other alumni letters that were mailed to you in the
past.
The Bodenham Community Club will have a
booth set up at the reunion where you may purchase note cards with the picture
of Bodenham School on them.
Save
the date, Saturday, September 24, and let’s make this a great day in the Bodenham Community.
May the “Bodenham Spirit” live forever more!
